I have a few pictures to share, but Blogger isn’t allowing me to publish them. :0(
The Halloween party at our house on Monday went well if not exactly as planned. S called in the morning to say that her son was ill so they couldn’t come. She was going to bring the crust for the pizza. I didn’t have bagels, or flat breads, or really anything that could be turned into a pizza crust so we scrapped the idea and went with grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup. L came with her 3 day home kids and one of dd’s friends came as well. 6 kids in total – one being a 2year old that napped the whole time! I had some colouring pages printed out and they just played. We had lunch then we played a game. Wrap your partner in toilet paper to make him look like a mummy. After that we did the bobbing for apples thing. I finished off with reading them the book “Room on the Broom”.
After everyone left my kids begged me to take them sledding. Oh how I wish we had a hill on our property! I so did not feel like going, but after much whining (from me) I took them to the hill that’s in our subdivision. It’s a bit of a walk so I took the lazy way and drove. I will admit that it was nice to get outside. The kids had a blast and got some much needed running around. Adrian came home early from work and met us at the hill. We went home then.
On Tuesday they had their home-school program. Instead of costumes they had crazy hair day. Dd had pony tails all over her head, but ds just had his hair cut. There wasn’t much to work with and I didn’t think ahead to get him some hair color.
Of course, Tuesday evening we went trick or treating. We went to my parent’s place in town. They live in a crescent and it’s just the right amount of houses. It’s well lit and busy with plenty of other kids which makes it fun. The kids also enjoy handing out candies to the children that come to my parent’s door. Ds was a king and dd was a horse rider with horse. Going to my parent’s has always been our tradition with the kids – it was great in the previous years when Adrian worked out of town because I wasn’t really alone. (and mom feeds us supper, which is a bonus)
Today the teacher is coming to our house. I’ve got to get our portfolio ready to show her, and I’m going to have to admit that we haven’t been up to much “official work” lately. We have some math to catch up on, and I have tonnes of laundry that I’ve been ignoring. Fuuuun day.
No, we’ll have fun. I got a new math game that I’m looking forward to trying with the kids. And I enjoy doing laundry while watching a movie or something – quite relaxing.
