It’s another day of frigidly cold temperatures here in Western Canada. -46 degrees C with the wind chill. I’m feeling it in the house, too. We have a twenty year old furnace that, needless to say, isn’t that efficient. It’s funny how cold temps can boost a furnace replacement up on the list of financial priorities.
We have spent the last two whole days in this house. We might just have to brave the cold this afternoon and drive into town. Maybe go to the library. I have a bunch of books that came in and I also have a parcel to pick up. Nothing too important so I don’t have to go. But you know. Cabin fever and all that.
We’ll see how it goes. It kind of depends on the kids. If they get stir crazy they tend to bicker more. A jaunt into town might alleviate the tension…for a couple of hours.
January’s almost over but February, I find, is the longest feeling month of the year even though it’s technically the shortest. I’m always ready for winter to finally be over.
Looking forward to spring/summer and the warmmmmth.
On a – eh hem – “lighter” note, the diet is going okay. Although, I’m finding I’m so much hungrier these past few days. It’s challenging in the afternoon to not munch away thoughtlessly. Maybe it’s due to the cold. Some instinctual thing, perhaps. He he he, well that’s MY story anyway! And another good reason to get out of the house and away from the pantry.
Keep warm everyone.
And for those of you who live in warmer climates…
😉
It’s cold here too…and when it warms up even slightly, it starts snowing, then I have to get out and shovel. Yep, I’m wishing for some warmer weather as well. Good luck with that diet.
Wow! Colder than we have been this year! Coldest we have had this year is about -25F I think. I feel your pain!! Stay warm & snuggle up with a good movie or book!!!
This afternoon is going to be windy. I don’t look forward to that. I will have to clean my vehicle off. I went out briefly this morning and got pretty cold. I am thankful for the wood stove. You could come for a visit if you don’t want to go all the way to town. I would still drive if I were you.
You know we stayed in the low 30s for a week straight and the skies were blue. Today we hit 60 and the clouds rolled in. I’d be surprised if we don’t get rain tonight. and then it’s supposed to be cold again tomorrow. Hot – cold – hot – cold. It keeps things interesting around here.
Looking so forward to spring temperatures. Actually, I’m looking forward to highs of -20˚C right now….

Wow…that´s much more colder!Poor Debbie!Here we have 6°C (43°F) but without sunshine !It´s grey,windy and rainy!I hate so dark days!Really depressive weather!
Although it’s not that cold here I’m still looking forward to warmer days. At least we have more daylight which is a sign of thing to come.
Chew gum when you’re feeling hungry! I can’t believe how much less I am eating now that I’m doing that.
it has been averaging -41c to -44c for the first have of this week
that picture of the tongue there reminded me of a news article of two youngsters in the midwest who stuck their tongues on a pole — and were stuck there. They had to call for help.
I would be getting cabin fever by now myself if I didn’t have to leave the house. Although I would prefer to just stay in I hate to drive in the snow and ice…..And I don’t want to hear anyone complain about the cold when their temps are in the 30’s F….That almost sounds warm right now.
